How deep sleep is experienced, when there is neither waking entity nor the dream entity to experience it. Then what is it that is aware of the three states which comes and goes in succession".

I am new to this, so this is a question of a seeker. It seems to me that humans cannot be aware of the deep-sleep experience. The only way we are aware of the deep-sleep state is due to modern technology of instruments that can measure when our dream state has ended and we have transitioned into a "state" of REM (so-called deep-sleep). But even this information, really doesn't tell us details about what is being experienced during this REM. Without technology, wouldn’t deep-sleep appear as part of dream state?

Peace,

JoeConscious Livinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03486673561422584979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4127434712970392028.post-27243828863862982062012-12-15T04:47:09.848-08:002012-12-15T04:47:09.848-08:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Brucehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12578947287312584266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4127434712970392028.post-1997298343310135502012-11-27T19:59:25.493-08:002012-11-27T19:59:25.493-08:00Like the substance of zero that can see itself as ...Like the substance of zero that can see itself as if one or two or more. I am posting it on private massage.
Firstly I have highest respect for Nisargadattta Maharaja. We have to go much beyond I AM THAT. Please do not hold any teaching or teacher as yardstick because it creates many doubts and confusion.

Awareness is the nature of the soul, the innermost self. The soul is present in the form of consciousness. The soul is in ignorance of its true nature in physical awareness. The physical awareness is present in the form of universe or waking experience. The soul is in its own awareness in deep sleep. We talk about the deep sleep experience in the state of ignorance (waking). The dream becomes unreal when waking takes place. Similarly the waking becomes unreal when wisdom dawns. Wisdom dawns when the waking entity realizes it itself is not the self in the midst of duality (waking).

With love, respect and regards
santthoshsunthosh2009@hotmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10158623067870617186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4127434712970392028.post-80456404955464287652012-06-06T20:43:39.926-07:002012-06-06T20:43:39.926-07:00Sunthosh,

Sometimes I have trouble following your English but perhaps this makes me slow down and read you carefully!

In the future could you address a few topics I've been investigating?

Firstly, could you expand on Nisargadatta's distinction between awareness and consciousness? It seems he used awareness as the Self and consciousness as an apparent localized awareness.

Secondly, when we recognize the objectless awareness of "I am" I understand there is still a subtle witness here. Awareness of Awareness and awareness of the illusory that's been negated. Is not liberation the transcendence of even this primordial distinction? Is this not simply just the final dropping of the subject/object duality?

Finally, could you comment on the Oneness or nondistinction of Knowing and Being or in other words Knowledge/Awareness and existence. I see that it is the dividing of these that gives birth to the separate illusory self.

Thanks ahead of time for reading my comments. Hopefully you have time to respond.

Namaste,
HDAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4127434712970392028.post-69091209211419615062012-02-09T19:29:29.557-08:002012-02-09T19:29:29.557-08:00And there is one very important thing i learn from...And there is one very important thing i learn from Krishnamurti is that, he asked me why I cared about enlightment, truthfully, honestly why I cared about that. Why do I care about meditation? To reach some sudden state of mind, to experience the vastness, to never feel suffering again. He shows me that it's not a right start, that's why I would never go anywhere.Govindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08527553353498761031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4127434712970392028.post-22158138665627321562012-02-09T19:15:42.033-08:002012-02-09T19:15:42.033-08:00I always feel so special about Krishnamurti teachi...I always feel so special about Krishnamurti teachings. I was drawn to him by my life long depression. But strangely, I didn't go to psychologist or religious anchor. Intuitively, I chose to read and patiently study his teachings without knowing him before.

So in my very experience, I saw that he led me straight to the darkness, satisfy all of the animal instinct urge or potent that I didn't dare to allow inside, but always always watch how i felt on the ride. Yes, a lot of extreme pleasure and acute pain, a lot of super ups and super downs. Sometimes , I hated him so much for taking me to "the hell on earth" and I didn't know why I had to endure all those until I realized I already dropped many many of toxic old beliefs in my head and finished some exploration.

I really really feel thankful to my intution that I picked his book and study him. He is like a light of my intelligence which I never can escape, the hurtful truth that I could never run away from. And really, it's a flame that cuts all the false inside me, eventhough it hurts so so much.

I love your writing, especially the second paragraph : "Indeed pleasure and pain are entirely culturally conditioned; animals to seek pleasure and try to avoid pain. These unconscious tendencies surviving in the seed form from one incarnation to the next, animating creatures as they were puppets". Their complete elimination is really really necessary, but only achieved when we see, feel the necessity in our heart, like Krishnamurti always say "you know a snake is dangerous, so you naturally you don't play with it". The elimination immediately happen when we see the truth ourself. That "knowing" (or awareness) happen in a second or less, but the preparation for it is surely a long time (and maybe painful) of studying and experimenting. But if we deny the painful process and follow a master, we will be much delayed. And Krishnamurti only helps us to see that we can't reach to that "knowing" by just following some rules, some descipline or study it from a sutra. We have to jump on a lake to learn how to swim ourself. That's from my experience.

Thank you for a very insightful post! :)Govindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08527553353498761031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4127434712970392028.post-7653846050428948182012-02-02T08:53:54.441-08:002012-02-02T08:53:54.441-08:00Resting in choiceless awareness is both the 'p...Resting in choiceless awareness is both the 'path' and the goal.Douglashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00874638208558598033noreply@blogger.com
