The waking experience also becomes falsehood when wisdom dawns.

The idea of God exists only in waking experience along with the idea person and his experience of the world.  The Waking experience appears and disappears.  When the waking Waking experience is present than  the dream is mere illusion. When there is a dream than  there is no trace of the waking experience.  When there is neither the  dream nor waking it is called deep sleep. Therefore it is necessary to investigate what is it that is  aware of these three states , when the Waking entity does not exist in dream and dream identity becomes falsehood when Waking takes place and there is no identity during the deep sleep.

One can come to firm conclusion and conviction after deeper self-search  that,  the witness of the three states in succession is not the person in the dream or Waking but the invisible identity which remains in its true nature during deep sleep.  Thus it becomes evident that the three states are dependent on the invisible witness for their existence. Therefore the invisible Witness is the knower of the three states which appears and disappears. Without the witness there cannot be the knowledge of dream and deep sleep in waking experience.

Thus the seeker has to consider the invisible witness of the three states as the true self and call it Atman or spirit to proceed deeper in his spiritual pursuit.

When seeker  mentally becomes aware of the existence of the formless witness of the three states than he becomes aware of 'what is truth and what is falsehood.the witness is the   the  formless e soul which witnesses the coming and going of the three states without the physical apparatus.  The three states are mere illusion on the standpoint of  the soul, which is present in the form of consciousnesses.

All the claims that God is doing this or that or has such and such qualities are false claim. One can make such claim within the  waking experience and he  is aware of such  God and  himself  and the world only within the  waking experience. From ultimate standpoint  the waking experience  itself is mere an illusion. The waking experience disappears as soul or consciousness in deep sleep and  it's identified as deep sleep when waking takes place.  Thus  The waking experience  also is a mere mental experience similar to dream which one considers as falsehood when waking takes place. The waking experience also becomes  falsehood when wisdom dawns. The wisdom dawns when waking entity becomes aware of the fact that , it itself is not the self but the self is the formless soul, which witnesses the coming and going of the three states in succession

On the base of spirit or Atman as self whatever seen, known, believed, experienced as real as a person during Waking is bound to be false. Because all the three states are as real as a dream

If Brahman is considered the all-pervading consciousness then, it is necessary to realize, the consciousness as self, which pervades all the three states to realize the fact that there is no second thing exists other the consciousness. Thus, the soul or consciousness (Atman) is ultimate truth (Brahman).

As indicated in ISH Upanishads: - By worshipping gods and goddesses you will go after death to the world of gods and goddesses. But will that help you? The time you spend there is wasted, because if you were not there you could have spent that time moving forward towards Self-knowledge, which is your goal. In the world of gods and goddesses you cannot do that, and thus you go deeper and deeper into darkness.

It clearly indicates that:-If the human goal is to acquire Self-Knowledge then why one has to indulge in rituals and glorifying the conceptual gods and goddesses to go in to deeper darkness. Instead   spend that time moving forward towards Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana, which is one’s prime goal.

Since it is eternal and infinite, it comprises the only truth. The goal of Vedic religion, through the various yogas, is to realize that the consciousness (Atman) is actually nothing but Brahman.

The Vedic pantheon of gods is said, in the Vedas and Upanishads, to be only higher manifestations of Brahman. For this reason, "ekam sat" (all is one), and all is Brahman.

Thus, the goal is to realize Atman (soul or consciousness).  If Atman (consciousness) is nothing but Brahman and by realizing Atman (consciousness) as Brahman (ultimate truth) is truth realization or Self-Realization , then there is no need to follow religion, study Scriptures or glorifying gods and gurus and  follow the path of doubts and confusion by losing oneself in the labyrinths of philosophy, when there is an easier path.  By mentally tracing the source of the mind from where it rises and subsides one becomes aware of the fallacy of the mind, which rises as waking or dream and subsides as deep sleep.  The mind raises form consciousness and subsides as consciousness.

Upanishads:- They alone in this world are endowed with the highest wisdom who are firm in their conviction of the sameness and birthlessness of Atman. The ordinary man does not understand their way. (Chapter IV- Alatasanti Prakarana 95-P-188 in Upanishads by Nikilanada)

Therefore, if one is seeking truth he has to know his true self is not physical but is the consciousness, which is in the form of consciousness.

Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana cannot be attained by study of the Vedas and intellectual understanding or by bookish knowledge.  Therefore there is no use of studying the Vedas and other scriptures in order to acquire the non-dual wisdom.  That is why Buddha rejected the scriptures, and even Sri, Sankara indicated that, the ultimate truth lies beyond religion, concept of god and scriptures.

It is impossible to find and realize the truth via religion and scriptural study. Even Upanishads conform this.

Katha Upanishad:-
This Atman cannot be attained by the study of the Vedas, or by intelligence, or by much hearing of sacred books. It is attained by him alone whom It chooses. To such a one Atman reveals Its own form. (Katha Upanishad Ch-II -23-P-20)
Mundaka Upanishad  :-
This Atman cannot be attained through study of the Vedas, nor through intelligence, nor through much learning. He who chooses Ataman—by him alone is Atman attained. It is Atman that reveals to the seeker Its true nature.( 3 –page-70
Mundaka Upanishad  Upanishads by Nikilanada)

When the Upanishads says:  the human goal is to acquire Self-Knowledge and they indicate the personal gods, scriptures, worship and rituals are not the means to Self –Knowledge, then why anyone should indulge in it. The religion, concept of individualized god and scriptures are greatest obstacle to realize non-dual truth or self-realization, because they are based on false self.  The seeker of truth has to search the ultimate truth without losing himself in the labyrinths of philosophy, through deeper, inquiry, analysis and reasoning and assimilate and realize it.

Thus it is necessary to follow the formless path dropping all the accumulated baggage and move forward to reach the destination in lesser time and effort.
