The consciousness exists with or without the matter because without the consciousness the matter ceases to exist because the matter is created out of consciousness.

All the accumulated knowledge based on physical self or  ego, such as scriptural knowledge, theoretical knowledge, and intellectual knowledge are the greatest obstacle in the pursuit of truth. 


Holders of such knowledge will not accept anything else as truth other than there accepted truth.  Thus, discussion with such people and comparing the truth, with their accumulated knowledge is like emptying the ocean drop by drop.  

Many intellectuals have a tremendous intellect; most will agree with their theories based on the ego, which is false self within the false experience. It does mean possesses Self –Knowledge or Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana.  Knowledge based on the false self(waking entity or ego)  within the false experience(waking)  is limited to false experience (waking) therefore it is certainly not Self-knowledge or Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana.

Gnana is usually translated as "knowledge" but that is because there is no equivalent word in English. It is more accurately "content less consciousness" or “self-awareness”.

Pundits who take the scriptures for granted are not Gnanis. Pundits teach that all is your-self, but none of them can show that this is so, none has analyzed it scientifically, and none can prove it. Rational proof is needed, so that one arrive at knowing truth i.e. wisdom; punditry is mere dogma, parrotism, a repetition of what they read in scripture.

The scriptures are not yardstick and scriptural truth is not proof.   Pundits take scriptures as authority.   Authoritarianism merely assumes as true what another says, but what has yet to be proved.

Pundits have to test truth in this world not in the next world.  There is no proof other than blind belief based on the scriptures, belief is not truth.  So, doctrines are not the means to realize the ultimate truth. There is no need to follow them.

Doubts and Confusions arise when the seeker finds the scriptures and yoga are inadequate or useless to quench his spiritual thirst.   Disappointments in religion or yoga or even science implies error or ignorance.

When the serious seeker reaches a stage with all his baggage of accumulated knowledge, then uncertainty haunts him.  Whether he is right?" Where is the certainty that he is proceeding on the right lines?" Thus doubts arise and the inquiring spirit comes and impels to search elsewhere for truth where it will not be possible even to have doubt. The test is therefore in the experience. And only in non-duality, where there are no two to argue about views or to have a difference of opinion can such doubtlessness be possible.  Belief depends upon unstable bases whereas certainty depends on proof.

Most think consciousness usually implies something, thoughts or things, but it is the formless nondual nature of the Ataman or the soul, the innermost self.

It exists as a matter in waking or dream.   And when wisdom dawns it is consciously aware of its formless nondual true nature in the midst of matter, as in deep sleep.

Proof is the main thing in pursuit of truth, "How can God exists without man’s existence?” how can the world exist without man’s existence. Thus man has to exist first to say god and the world exists.  This seeker has to verify about his own existence to realize the fact that, all the three states are unreal, on the standpoint of the formless witness, which is the formless  soul, the innermost self.
