By limiting mind or 'I' to waking entity is the main hurdle in
pursuit of truth. Therefore it is necessary for the seeker of truth to
investigate what is mind, in order to realize the mind or 'I' is not limited to physical entity but mind or 'I' is the whole universe , which appears as waking or dream.
Man is conditioned to view and judge the worldview on the base of waking entity as self whereas the self neither the waking entity nor the self is dream entity, but the self is the formless witness of the three states ,which appears and disappears. The formless witness is the soul or consciousness. The soul or consciousness is the innermost self. the soul or consciousness, the innermost self is prior to the appearance of the waking experience.

He who knows the truth, knows, what is untruth. No one can know
the untruth, without knowing, what is truth. Thus people who are still in the realm
of duality, thinking the self is internal, how can they judge ‘what is truth?’
and ‘what is not the truth’, without realizing the fact that, the self is
neither the waking entity nor the self is the dream entity but self is the
formless substance, witness and also the source of the three states. The
formless substance witness and the source are one in essence. And that essence
is the formless soul or consciousness, the innermost self. On the standpoint of
the innermost self, the three states are mere illusion. Thus what is the use of
practicing meditation or Samadhi as waking entity, which is the false self
within the false experience? Therefore, every path and practice has to be
verified before accepting as truth.
When self is neither the waking entity not 'I' than 'WHO AM 'I'? inquiry will not be able to yield the full truth because the 'self is not 'I' but self is formless witness of the 'I'.
When one realizes the self is
not ‘I’ but the self is the
formless substance and witness of the ‘I’ , he is freed from the
attachment to result and then what ever he does it detached work. Similarly,
when he recognizes that consciousness is everywhere and in everything in all
the three states than that very recognition leads to a total dissolution of the
ignorance and leads to self-awareness.
What is required is only non-dual
wisdom. All else follow. Without Self- Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana , when one tries to detach himself
from the practical world, he finds it impossible, because he feels he is the
doer. The doer ship and doing belongs to
individuality. Individuality is falsehood from the ultimate standpoint because
the self is not an individual entity; it pervades the whole of the illusion,
which is in the form of the universe, which appears as waking or dream.
Self is nothing more than a
mental idea within the falsehood, how can one surrender to his own mental idea,
as surrender itself means dropping of the inborn conditioning or samskara of
‘I’ by realizing ‘I’ is not the self but the formless
substance and witness of the ‘I’ is the true self. holding 'i' as self is holding false self as real self because self is 'I-LESS' existence. Holding false self (waking entity or ego) as real self is holding the false experience(waking or universe) as reality.
Self is ‘I’- less. Self is bodiless. Whatever is connected to
‘I’ is ignorance. When ignorance ends it is Gnana. When Gnana arise
than the body, ego and the universe is mere mirage created out of
consciousness. Until one gets the firm conviction that the
self is not physical but self is formless consciousness and learns to view and
judge and conclude on the base of formless self, Gnana will not arise. Gnana is the result of contemplation; it in
annihilates ignorance. Ignorance is the cause of experiencing the illusion as
reality.
Most of the dualistic sages approach was more practical, and they
stuck with the reality of the world, they took it as real. Whereas Sri, Sankara says: one must first
know what is before him. If he cannot know that, what else can he know or
understand? If he gives up the external world in his inquiry, he cannot get the
whole truth.
Until one thinks body as body and world as
world it is impossible to grasp nondual truth, because his views and judgments
are bases on physical self with the physical existence. The individuality is reality with the waking
experience but the waking experience itself is false hood. Thus holding the
view as an individual within the false experience is erroneous on the ultimate
point of view. The waking is parallel
dream and dream is parallel waking experience.
Mind is present in the form of 'I'.'I' is in the form of universe. Universe is in the form of waking or dream. thus holding the 'I' as self is holding the illusion as reality.
In waking the universe comes: in deep sleep the waking goes. In waking is one born; in
waking one dies.
In waking one lives, in Waking one suffers. In Waking one earns,
in Waking one enjoys. In Waking is one truthful or lies like a liar. In Waking
one reflects on Virtue and Sin. In Waking do one lands in Heaven and Hell. In
Waking is one happy, in Waking in sorrow. In Waking does one lose the
distinctions of caste and creed. In Waking is one wise; in Waking is one
unwise.
In Waking one has an urge to know the truth. In Waking one is in
the illusion; in Waking is one shadowed by Doubts and confusion, in waking one
thinks of reincarnation and rebirth. In
waking one thinks that he is born in this world and world existed prior to him.
In waking one is in ignorance of the true self, which is consciousness. If one
spots out the true self within the three states, one realizes the way to
freedom.
One is in action in Waking. In Waking one is bound by form, time
and space. Waking is in the form of mind. Mind appears and disappears as waking
or dream. If there is no mind then there
is no waking or dream. Waking or dream is born out of ignorance of the true
self. Getting rid of the ignorance through wisdom is the way to the release. In Waking or dream,
one follows the Writ of habit. Waking or dream is a chronic malady; but within
it also is its remedy.
