The three states cease to exist without the formless soul but the formless soul (consciousness) can exist with or without the three states.

There is no remedy for it other than thinking and reflecting on the  soul or consciousness,  the innermost  Self.  Constant reflecting mentally through thinking of  the innermost self  alone removes the seekers’ dullness according to his advancement, quickly, or gradually.

The seeking mind which unreservedly surrenders itself to formless soul (consciousness)  is endowed with all the requisites necessary for truth pursuit. The seeking mind which gets the firm conviction that soul  is the true self easily overcomes all obstacles in pursuit of truth. On the other hand, one, who being stuck up with religion and yoga his success, is very doubtful.

The chief requisite is constant attention on  the 'Soul' mentally. The one devoted to abstract consciousness excels every other seeker. Consummation lies in the discernment of the Self as distinguished from the non-Self.

The seeker must realize the consciousness is not confounded only with the body but it pervades the all the three states as its formless substance and witness.  Limiting consciousness  only to the physical body leads to all the doubts and confusion. Such confusion must cease otherwise the wisdom remains a distant dream.

The soul  is the formless witness  of the three states . Thus the three states  are mere  illusory experiences. That is the man and his experience of the world is mere an  experience.  The three states  cease to exist without the formless soul but the formless soul  (consciousness) can exist with or without the  three states.
